About the Vidya Shikshan Prasarak Mandal

Since its inception in 1971, the Vidya Shikshan Prasarak Mandal has been focused on education, social up-liftment and the removal of social ills. The result of three decades of work in this field has been the setting up of 45 quality educational institutions ranging from primary schools to a medical college.

The Mission of the Trust is “to transform society through education and awareness. ensuring that every human being, even in the remotest hinterland has the opportunity to the highest level of excellence.”

The Trust was established in 1971, by the late Padmashree Kamlatai Hospet, a social worker who did extensive work in the area of women’s up-liftment, and in 1981, when she passed away, the reigns of the Trust were passed on to Mr.Ranjit Deshmukh, the current Chairman of the Trust, who took it upon himself to expand the mission of the founder.

The Akshara High School in Kandivali (west), Mumbai, is one of the first initiatives of the Trust in Mumbai that continues to fulfill the objectives of imparting quality education and opportunities for excellence to all.
